Thank you, Barrel of a Pencil!

Although the pencil in the photos looks like the one on the truck I am not sure if it is really the same. Besides that, it could be possible that the LYRATO 666 has been produced much longer than the original truck. – I'll ask LYRA.

Congratulations on your continuing success Gunther!

The boy in me would snap up the little Lyra truck if he saw it on a store shelf, but I have to ask is that Lyra pencil a current model? It certainly is not a restrained design but it is very attractive in black pinstripes, sky blue, and gold.

@Henrik: Thank you for your kind words! I am glad to hear that you enjoy the mix. – I don't remember having Märklin items when I was a small boy so this truck is some kind of première ;-)

@Kiwi-d: Today I have drilled out the two rivets that keep the plastic chassis and metal body together – of course not without removing more material than absolutely necessary since I was dremeling without a vice or something similar ;-) A M+R 600 sharpener should fit into the truck.

Congratulations on the 200th post.
Aah! Märklin - those were the days. When I was a small boy in Denmark, this was the holy grail of toys. For as long as I can remember, I had one wagon and some rails for birthday and Christmas only because we had friends in Germany. I considered myself very lucky.

You have a wonderful blog here - a fine mix of pencils and other observations - I really like the stille Beobachter series. Besides, I get the chance to practice reading some German, something I've neglected for (too) many years.
.
Thanks for the blog. Keep it up.
Kind regards
Henrik

Yes, this one is indeed in perfect condition (actually I have bought two, and the second one has a very small production fault; I have noticed it while preparing the photos).

The truck was produced around 2007 but I haven't seen it for sale officially; It seems to belong to a set which parts aren't available individually. For some strange reason large quantities of that truck are available at eBay Germany (I have even seen two packs of 100 of these trucks).

I have thought about using my <a href="http://www.dremeleurope.com/dremelocs-de/Category.jsp;jsessionid=?&ccat_id=471" rel="nofollow">Dremel</a> to remove the innards of the second truck and to glue in a sharpener ;-)
