  2. Kubis­mus ist gut ;-) Ich fürchte, die Form auf dem Schild ist die ori­gi­nale, haben* wir in Deutsch­land doch so manch andere schräge Figu­ren auf Schil­dern. Die Risse in den Farb­flä­chen erin­nern an bewusste Trenn­li­nien, die – wie hier zu sehen – natür­lich falsch wären und an ein Frankenstein-Monster, wie Du tref­fend gesagt hast, erinnern.

  3. You’re right – it defi­ni­tely looks like that. By the way, that odd fel­low was not alone in the Ger­man jungle of road signs. Until recently ano­ther figure of fun gra­ced the sign that marked sub­ways, giving the impres­sion that these faci­li­ties are only to be used by drunks. A rede­sign has repla­ced that strange cha­rac­ter with a modern des­cen­dant, but not wit­hout intro­du­cing ano­ther spe­cia­lity into the street scene: Now peo­ple with dis­con­nec­ted, hove­ring heads show us the way. (Of course the sphe­ri­cal, dis­lodged head isn’t new – it has been intro­du­ced in 1972 alre­ady by Otl Aicher with his pic­to­grams for the Olym­pic Games in Munich, and as far as I know there were pre­de­ces­sors in Japan.)
