Der moderne Blei­stift fei­ert heute sei­nen 225. Geburts­tag, denn am 3. Januar 1795 erhielt Nicolas-Jacques Conté das Patent auf seine noch heute genutzte Rezep­tur für die Mine aus Gra­phit und Ton.   1. Won­derful text Gun­ther. I throughly enjoy it. Also, I knew Conté held the patent for the mix­ture we use nowa­days, but was com­ple­tely una­ware over its date of issue.

    Last but cer­tainly not least, I agree that the pen­cil shouldn’t be sold on ’spe­cialty stores‘ or as a fancy wri­ting item. That sort of stuff is really taking a lot from it, IMHO.

    You’re right – spe­cialty shops may have their right to exist to pro­vide pen­cils and access­ories which aren’t easily available other­wise but they shouldn’t be the only places that sell pencils.
