Schreibwaren sind in der ZDF-Sendereihe „Bares für Rares“ nur selten zu sehen, doch Ende August gab es eine Besonderheit.
Mit „Ich habe heute ein paar Buntstifte dabei“ trat ein Gast zunächst vor den Experten und dann vor die fünf Händler, um ein wohl gut 100 Jahre altes und unbenutztes Set Krokierstifte von Johann Faber anzubieten. Der Kaufbetrag lag zum Schluss weit über der Schätzung des Experten, war aber meiner Ansicht nach immer noch recht niedrig. – Der Ausschnitt ist hier1 zu sehen.

Do you happen to know if Johann Faber’s pencil leads were famous for being distributed inside glass vials with cork caps and if the brand was famous for this? Somebody recently pointed this to me with information coming from AI, which honestly I don’t trust that much.
I’ve seen several of these unmarked vials for sale in various vintage markets here in Mexico, but I sincerely doubt those are from Johann Faber, as it was not a brand with a whole lot of presence here, if at all.
I have a few leads in glass tubes from A. W. Faber-Castell with cork caps but I can’t recall ever having seen leads from Johann Faber in a glass packaging . – I wouldn’t trust the stochastic parrot (commonly referred to as ‘AI’) either.
