Aus der Rubrik „Gerät von gestern“: Ein Fallnullenzirkel von STAEDTLER aus den 1990er Jahren zum Zeichnen von Kreisen und Kreisbögen mit Radien bis 10 mm.
Der 125 mm lange, aus Metall und in Nürnberg gefertigte Zirkel hat eine um 11 mm in der Führung verschiebbare und außergewöhnliche spitze Nadel und im Schenkel ein Gewinde zur Aufnahme von Tuschefüllfederhaltern und Druckstifteinsätzen (im Bild: ein 2-mm-Fallminenstift). Sein Gebrauch ist einfach: Radius über die seitliche Rändelschraube einstellen, Schenkel anheben, Nadel im Zentrum einstechen, Zirkel am Kopf halten, Schenkel absenken und Stift mit Hilfe des gerändelten Zylinders rotieren.
Der Zirkel mit 0,5-mm-Druckstifteinsatz hat mich bei eBay 3 Euro gekostet. Ob ich ihn brauche? Nein, aber er gefällt mir zu gut, als dass ich auf den Kauf hätte verzichten können.
Nachtrag vom 25.4.14: Der Fallnullenzirkel hatte die Artikelnummer 556-58 und war von den frühen 1980er bis Mitte der 1990er Jahre erhältlich. Den Fallminenstift-Einsatz aus der CIRCOFIX-Reihe mit der Artikelnummer 556-92 gab es zur gleichen Zeit.
This is such beautiful elegant pair of compasses. Thank you for showing it! A pity Staedtler discontinued its manufacture. However, also this instrument has been discontinued since. Compasses have short lives these days. A pity but it seems people have other priorities than buying and using them.
I am happy to hear that you like this compass too, Wowter! Thank you for making me aware of the Galileo – I haven’t heard of it before. The company who designed it is new to me too, and I am suprised that they have designed many more products for Staedtler.
Today compasses are not as important as they have been about twenty, thirty years ago, and to me many of the current models can’t compete with older compasses in therms of quality and usability. I have a few older compasses, just because of this reason (of course it is irrational – I don’t use them).
