  1. Oooh… we should have seen it coming, a gift set featuring the Swiss Wood (or something similar) ;) I’m happy with my 348s though. BTW I recently got the Caran d’Ache Technik eraser but haven’t broken it out yet. What do you think of the Technik?

  3. Sola: Yes, it was indeed forseeable, but I didn’t expect a set with only two pencils and with such a hefty price tag. It’s a pity that the pencil made from Swiss pine isn’t available individually! – I haven’t used the Technik eraser yet.

  4. Will you do some cooking experiments with these as well? :-). Great they produce pencils from native trees. It is a pity Caran d’Ache never explained their motivations behind the special woods collection they produced previously. Just a few words would have been nice: Hearing their arguments. Something plausible, I guess. I hope the quality of these Swiss pencils matches up with the price. However, this is beyond my budget. But I love the innovation. Thank you for this report on products from The Alps. Prosit!

  5. No, I don’t think I will do cooking experiments ;-) I assume the pencil is really made from solid Swiss pine and not from reconstituted wood. You’re right – a few words about their motivation would indeed be interesting.

I have asked Caran d’Ache again if the Swiss pine pencil is available individually but unfortunately it isn’t, and they won’t make an exception. I’d love to get this pencil but the price for the set is way to high. I hope they change their mind someday …
