  1. Having a Victorinox credit card toolset with a marked ruler on one side, I can relate to its usefulness.

Yet, am a bit confused here. Does the brand Eberhard Faber still exists on Germany? Was it in anyway related to the later Eberhard Faber of the US?

All in all, it is cetainly an appealing pencil and one that added more diversity to my collection. Thank you my friend!

  2. I’m happy to hear thatyou like this pencil too! It’s indeed more than a gimmick.

Yes, the Eberhard Faber brand still exists. STAEDTLER acquired it in 1978 and sold it to Faber-Castell in 2010. – You will find many details regarding Eberhard Faber USA in Sean’s amazing weblog Contrapuntalism.

  3. Been reading a lot about Eberhard on Sean’s site (excellent resource BTW). That’s the reason I was asking. I read there that the last owners of the brand were pretty tight on having their company name pronounced in a German way, so I it was kind of odd to see their brand on top of a Germany country designation.

I’ve still got many posts to read over there, so maybe am still missing the part where EF was sold to Staedtler and then to FC.

BTW also found there that EF manufactured pencils in Mexico at some point!

  4. Yes, Sean’s weblogs are really excellent! – I’m sorry that I can’t provide any details regarding the history of Eberhard Faber but I’m sure that you will find everything in Sean’s weblog.
